LCC baseball players sign letters of intent

??? Three sophomores from the Lamar Community College men?s baseball team signed national letters of intent to play Division I baseball on Wednesday, Nov. 9th.?

??? LCC head baseball coach Scott Crampton announced that sophomore outfielder Ben Lahn, signed a national letter of intent with Creighton University.? Sophomore pitchers Dillon Moritz, and David Leblanc both signed to play at the University of Arkansas Little Rock. Sophomore pitcher Garrett Pape signed with Division II school Regis University, Denver, Colo.

??? Ben Lahn, a 6-3, 215-pound outfielder from Mullen High School, Denver, Colo. signed after finishing his freshman year batting a team leading .385 with 16 home runs and 50 RBIs.? He was selected First Team All-Region after the season.

??? The 2011 Creighton Bluejays are coming off a 45-16 record and a 15-6 record in the Missouri Valley Conference .? After the conclusion of the regular season, Creighton gained a NCAA regional appearance at Corvallis, Ore. with the University of Georgia, University of Arkansas Little Rock, and Oregon State University.

??? ? Dillon Moritz, a 6-6 right-handed closer from Grandview High School, Aurora, Colo. signed after finishing 1-2 with a 3.54 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 40 innings.??

??? David Leblanc, a 6-6 starting right-handed pitcher from Deerfield Academy School, Beaconsfield, Quebec, Canada attended Cochise Junior College in Douglas, Ariz. as a freshman where he was a spot starter.??

??? The University of Arkansas Little Rock finished (24-32) in 2011 and made history with the first ever No. 8 seed to advance to the title game with a 7-6 victory over Florida International for the Sun Belt Tournament Championship.? This led to the program?s first-ever NCAA regional appearance at Corvallis,Ore.

??? Garrett Pape, a 6-2, 175-pound right-handed starter form Ft. Morgan High School, Ft. Morgan, Colo. signed with Regis University after finishing 3-3 with a 6.05 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 41 innings.

??? The Regis Rangers finished 22-27 last year and ended their season in the RMAC tournament.
??? ?Former LCC pitching coach Ben Buck is now the pitching coach at Regis University.

??? ?The LCC baseball program is coming off a 47-17 season where they finished ranked 21st in the country.? They also won their ninth conference and seventh regional titles in the past eleven years.

??? ? Since the 1994 season at LCC, 137 of Crampton?s players have signed to play baseball at the four-year level.?

??? Last season all nine sophomores were placed in four-year institutions as well as two were drafted professionally.
