Australian singer Delta Goodrem has helped launch the construction of a new cancer center at the Sydney hospital where she was treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The singer was diagnosed with the disease in 2003, just weeks after the release of her debut album Innocent Eyes, and she underwent chemotherapy treatment at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney.
She recovered after two years of treatment and returned to the medical center this week to tour the construction site where a new cancer research building will stand.
Goodrem met with construction workers and pressed her hand prints into a block of cement to mark her commitment to the research project.
She told reporters, "I was treated at St Vincent's so I know it very well and I think you can have a totally different perspective when you've been on the other side..."
