Aggressive Animals:
We all know how aggressive sports can be so why not use that aggression in your brand mark. The best way to accommodate aggression and violence into your trademark sign is to use images of wild animal in your team symbol. This will give an edge of violence in your player?s trademark which will be intimidating for your opponents. You can use images of intimidating animals like tiger, lion, jaguar, bull, bears, alligators, hawks or rattlers. Illustrate your animals to be snarling, growling, scratching or howling so that it sends a shiver down your opponents? spines whenever they have a look at your trademark sign.
Mythical Or Historical Creatures:
To make the brand marks memorable, there must be certain amount of imagination and art involved in the craft. For that, the best idea is to use mythical or historical creatures that can add a hint of tradition and roots to the design. For example, you can use an image of a knight in an armor who is riding on a horse and has his lance drawn out in the front. This will depict that the team is brave and advocates justice. Similarly, you can take an idea from the old Greek and Roman Gods and use that as an inspiration. For example, you can use an image of Zeus to show your supreme authority in the field or an image of Hercules to represent your strength.
Patriotic Or National Images:
Another idea is to use images that represent patriotism or nationalism. That will create a natural affiliation with the team and an unconscious, emotional bond with the players. The stars, stripes and red and blue colors are also a great theme to work with and are quite flexible. For example, take a look at the ohio state football logo that has taken inspiration from the national flag for its team emblem. You can also use your state culture and colors in your monogram. For example if your team is representing the state of Alaska then you can use an image of the moose in your monogram or if it is from Florida, then you can use an image of a panther.
To wrap it all up, make sure that the sign that you are creating represents strong and positive messages about the team and its players through its imagery. Even the colors you use should be bold and solid so that your team mark looks authoritative and intimidating.

The efforts of pro-Palestinian ?Occupy? protesters to stifle the free speech of pro-Israel speakers nationwide continued at the University of New Mexico on Thursday night when a small group tried to shout down a speech by author Nonie Darwish. This time, their pre-planned disruption led to a physical altercation.
Darwish, founder of Arabs for Israel and director of Former Muslims United, was speaking at an event titled, ?Why the Arab Spring is Failing? organized by the University of New Mexico Israel Alliance and the David Horowitz Freedom Center.
Activists from ?(un)Occupy Albuquerque? ? a group allied with the Occupy Wall Street movement ? started a ?people?s mic? seen frequently during the Occupy Wall Street protests.
As seen on a video posted to YouTube (below), the pro-Palestinian activists yelled: ?Mic check! Nonie Darwish speaks for Israeli apartheid! And genocide at the hands of the IDF!?
Shortly after the ?mic check? begins, the audience is heard shouting at those disrupting the speech, and chanting ?U.S.A.! U.S.A.!? Then, a scuffle begins. Though the camera angle is tight ? which complicates providing an objective description ? it appears an older audience member tried to grab the paper (presumably the script of anti-Israel slogans) out of one of the Occupy protester?s hands, which lead to pushing and shoving.
This as other audience members further away shouted profanities, urging them to ?Get out!?
It?s unclear from the tape if an older male audience member lunged at the protesters or tripped on a chair and fell forward on then. Watch the two videos here posted by the protesters:

The ability to reconcile quantum theory and gravity in a grand theory of everything is the holy grail of physicists. Yet despite the best efforts of theoretical physicists, it is still beyond their grasp. Now they have a helping hand from an unusual quarter.
Fascinated by string theory and inspired by the concept of gravity as a unifying principle, Italian artist Luca Pozzi embarked in 2009 on a research project looking at micro and macro scales as a whole. ?When you are thinking about creation there is always a moment that you have to limit your range. When you do that, you limit, in a way, the potentiality of your system,? he says. Pozzi?s sculptures are part of this dialogue. Many of them defy gravity, using magnetic materials to suspend objects in unlikely positions - such as Dragon Wings, in which tennis and ping pong balls are captured by invisible forces, trapped against the underside of an aluminium pair of abstract wings, or positioned incongruously half-way down the wing?s slope, full of unrealised potential energy.
Pozzi has collaborated with numerous scientists in his research into physical phenomena. Having been a guest at The Albert Einstein Institute in Potsdam, Germany, La Facult? de Science de Luminy in Marseille, France, and The Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Pozzi's latest collaboration was with Abhay Asthekar, director of the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos at Pennsylvania State University, US. For this he worked on a new way to illustrate Big Bounce Theory - which suggests the creation of our universe came at the collapse of another. His artwork formed the cover of Asthekar?s treatise on the subject.
The new installation of Pozzi?s work defies gravity. Part of the Higher Atlas exhibition, which opens this Wednesday at the 2012 Marrakech Biennale, Pozzi?s The Star Platform uses an electromagnetic levitation field to suspend five sea-sponges and a metal egg above an aluminium star. With the incongruity of the sculpture he aims to embody the warping of space and make the viewer perceive gravity in a less certain light. Yet, like much of Pozzi?s work, the piece is intentionally non-specific in nature, something he thinks adds to its accessibility.
Pozzi got the idea for incorporating levitation into his work when he met electronic engineer Janick Simeray of Simerlab studio in Hong Kong. How does he make these objects hover over water and aluminium? Contrary to his usual ethos of making complicated details accessible, he remains cagey about the exact details of how it works: ?It is top secret,? he insists.
By using the imagery of contemporary art, Pozzi hopes that he is opening up the concepts of theoretical physics to the general public: ?The main idea behind this work is that the knowledge is for everybody.? He hopes that by using ?different platforms, different languages, different doors? he will convey the message to as many people as possible.
Luca Pozzi's work features in the Higher Atlas exhibition, which will run at the Marrakech Biennale from 29 February to 3 June. Other art and performance events will run from 29 February to 4 March as part of the fourth Marrakech Biennale.

BURLINGTON, Ontario (AP) ? A Canadian Via Rail passenger train derailed west of Toronto Sunday, killing three railroad employees and injuring dozens of passengers, officials said.
Via Rail spokeswoman Michelle Lamarche said the three people killed were all engineers riding in the cab of the locomotive at the front of the train when it derailed in Burlington, Ontario. A fourth Via worker in the locomotive was injured, she said.
Burlington Mayor Rick Goldring also confirmed that three people died in the accident.
Lamarche said no passengers died but 45 were injured. She said 75 people were on board the train traveling from Niagara Falls to Toronto when the train left the tracks around 3:30 p.m. Sunday within view of a residential area near Aldershot station.
The locomotive crashed on its side into a small trackside building, and at least two passengers car behind it were driven off the tracks into an L-shape. All six cars derailed, a Via official said.
Amid the twisted metal and debris emergency crews scrambled to pull passengers to safety amid reports fuel was leaking from the train. Some passengers were carried away on boards and stretchers while others, looking dazed and battered, were led out of the wreckage by emergency workers.
Three passengers were airlifted to hospital, one with a heart attack, another with a broken leg and the third with a back injury. Forty-two other passengers suffered less-serious injuries and were either treated at the scene or taken to local hospitals. Some 30 passengers were well enough to continue on to Toronto's Union Station by bus.
Deanna Villela of Welland, Ontario, said she felt a slight bump before the train jumped off the tracks, sending people and luggage flying. The crash lasted about 10 seconds but felt like "forever," she said.
Goldring said the crash caused minor damage to nearby buildings.
"There's no question it's very tragic. We're a relatively small company, we're a family, we know everyone by name," Via chief operating officer John Marginson said at the scene. "We certainly feel for the families of the colleagues that we lost."
Transportation Safety Board investigators were on the scene Sunday. A key piece of evidence will be the train's data recorder. Weather was not believed to be a factor, as it was clear and dry at the time of the crash. It was not immediately known how fast the train was traveling.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) ? Miami overcame the loss of a top player and enhanced its NCAA tournament resume.
Durand Scott scored 17 points and the Hurricanes beat No. 15 Florida State 78-62 on Sunday night, snapping a six-game losing streak to the rival Seminoles.
Miami had lost 11 of 12 against Florida State, which made this victory particularly sweet.
"It's our rivalry game," Scott said. "To get a quality win like that, it's great. And I'm sure the rest of the team feels the same way."
Kenny Kadji added 15 points for the short-handed Hurricanes (17-10, 8-6 Atlantic Coast Conference), who pulled into a tie with Virginia for fourth place in the conference standings.
Miami played without starting center Reggie Johnson, declared ineligible by the school an hour before the game after an investigation revealed members of his family had received benefits not allowed under NCAA rules. According to a statement released by the university, "Johnson was unaware of the benefits and his family was told they were permissible by a member of the former basketball coaching staff."
Miami is seeking a quick resolution from the NCAA in an attempt to reinstate Johnson, who is averaging 10.6 points per game.
"It's my understanding that Reggie and his family didn't know of any impermissible benefit," coach Jim Larranaga said. "It was somebody else."
The Hurricanes used Johnson's absence as motivation.
"Just because one person goes down, you just can't quit," Scott said. "I'm pretty sure he wanted us to step up and do the things necessary that Coach wants us to win basketball games."
Michael Snaer scored 20 points to lead third-place Florida State (19-9, 10-4).
The Seminoles rallied from a 59-42 deficit with 5:07 remaining and got within 65-58 on Snaer's two free throws with 2:39 left.
"We just tried to put everything on the line and try to claw our way back," Snaer said. "They knew we were going to come back with that type of firepower and aggressiveness on defense."
Scott, Kadji and Shane Larkin each hit two free throws in the next 58 seconds as Miami increased the lead to 71-58. Larkin finished with 13 points.
The Hurricanes expanded a four-point halftime lead and outscored the Seminoles 14-8 in the first 5:15 of the second half. Rion Brown hit the fourth 3-pointer in Miami's early second-half spurt to increase the lead to 38-28.
"We really finished the half strong," Larranaga said.
Snaer's three-point play with 10:48 left cut it to 44-35 before the Hurricanes responded with consecutive 3-pointers from Trey McKinney Jones and Malcolm Grant.
Miami shot 7 of 13 from beyond the arc in the second half.
"I thought in the second half, they got their momentum going with their 3s," Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton said. "That kind of gave them confidence and we couldn't get anything going offensively."
The Hurricanes rallied from an eight-point deficit and took the lead for good with a 13-2 run in the final 4:34 of the first half. Scott scored seven points during the surge and his layup with 22 seconds remaining gave the Hurricanes a 24-20 lead at halftime.
Okaro White scored four points during an 8-0 run for the Seminoles midway through the first half. White's basket with 5:37 remaining capped the spurt and gave Florida State an 18-11 lead.
Miami was held scoreless for a 7:03 stretch until Scott made the second of two free throw attempts with 4:34 left to cut the Seminoles' lead to 18-12.

Australian government torn apart by US-China tensions

The extraordinary political crisis that is tearing the Australian government and the Labor Party apart is due to come to a head on Monday with a leadership contest between Prime Minister Julia Gillard and ex-foreign minister Kevin Rudd. In the media, however, this fundamental rift is being portrayed, in the words of today?s Australian editorial, as ?not about policy, nor about national interest... [but] about petty squabbles of the past, revenge colliding with retribution, and the politics of personality.?
In other words, the vitriol being vented by Rudd and Gillard supporters against their opponents in the leadership battle, unparalleled in post-war Australian political history, has nothing to do with fundamental policy differences. The Labor Party?the country?s oldest party, on which the Australian ruling class has relied in every major crisis over the past century?is supposedly imploding because of the overweening ambition of two individuals.
This version of events is simply nonsensical.
The underlying causes of the conflict are not to be found, primarily, in the sphere of domestic politics. Both Rudd and Gillard are committed to the austerity agenda demanded by finance capital and are pitching themselves to big business as the best instrument for implementing the required assault on the working class.
Rather, the fracturing of the Labor Party is bound up with powerful geo-political rivalries centred on the Obama administration?s growing confrontation with China. The Australian ruling class has been swept into this maelstrom, confronted point blank with the longstanding dilemma posed by its heavy economic dependence on China, on the one hand, and its geo-strategic reliance on its military alliance with the United States, on the other.
Rudd was removed as prime minister in June 2010 in an overnight inner-party coup carried out by a handful of factional leaders with close ties to Washington. At the time, Obama had just begun his foreign policy ?pivot? from the Middle East to an aggressive diplomatic and strategic intervention in Asia, aimed at undermining China?s expanding influence.
The Obama administration regarded Rudd as an obstacle to its orientation. This was not because he in any way threatened the US-Australia alliance, as evidenced in a WikiLeaks cable, in which he described himself to American officials as ?a brutal realist? who recognised that a US war with China could eventually take place.
Rudd, however, did propose the creation of a regional forum through which the economic and strategic interests of the United States and China could be accommodated by deft negotiation and diplomatic summitry. This cut across Obama?s intention, which was not to ease tensions, but rather to heighten the pressure on China across the Indo-Pacific region. He did not want a diplomatic mediator in Canberra, but a staunch, unquestioning ally.
Nearly two years later, US-China tensions have dramatically intensified. Gillard has proven her worth by slavishly supporting every Obama initiative. She announced last November that the US military, including US Marines, would have access to Australian military bases across the north and west of the country, adjacent to highly sensitive shipping lanes through which China gains access to energy and raw materials from the Middle East and Africa.
As foreign minister, Rudd has toed the US line on myriad issues, including the NATO military intervention in Libya. But he has also continued to proselytise in international forums on the need for a Pax Pacifica, as he told the Asia Society in Washington in January??a peace that will ultimately be anchored in the principles of common security, recognising the realities of US and Chinese power.?
This political divide is not limited to the present Labor leadership, to the Labor Party or to Australia. Former Labor Prime Minister Paul Keating and ex-Liberal Party opposition leader Malcolm Turnbull publicly expressed concerns last November about Obama?s confrontational approach to China. Keating ousted Bob Hawke as Labor leader in 1991 in part in order to pursue a closer orientation to Asia. Turnbull, who was removed as Liberal Party leader in late 2009, exemplifies the foreign policy split in the opposition?s ranks.
Similar dilemmas confront the political establishments in the US, Europe and internationally, where powerful economic and financial interests are heavily dependent on investment in China. The auto giant General Motors, for example, would quickly plunge into the red if its highly profitable operations in China were significantly compromised. Over the past decade, US exports to China have increased by 468 percent, and trade between the two countries is expected to hit half a trillion dollars this year.
Rudd is therefore not alone in his views. Former US National Security Adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski, wrote in the closing pages of his new book, Strategic Vision: ?An active American role in Asia is essential not only in order to promote stability in the region but, even more so, to create circumstances in which the American-Chinese relationship evolves peacefully and cooperatively, and eventually grows into a wide-ranging political and economic global partnership.?
Another US foreign policy heavyweight, Henry Kissinger, who was instrumental in securing US-China rapprochement in 1972, has also called for renewed cooperation and expressed fears of a confrontation. In his book On China published last year, he warned that a cold war with China ?would arrest progress for a generation on both sides of the Pacific? and would ?spread disputes into internal politics of every region.?
Significantly Kissinger chaired a session of the top-level Munich Security Conference earlier this month, at which Rudd repeated his call for a Pax Pacifica that would accommodate China?s ?legitimate search for national sovereignty? as well as ?the US continuing strategic engagement in Asia.? He made a particular appeal to the European powers to use their ?common security and foreign policy voice... to help shape this emergence of a sense of common security across wider Asia.?
These appeals for compromise and reason stand in sharp contrast to the escalating geo-political tensions that are being driven, above all, by the historic decline of US imperialism. In an attempt to retain its global hegemony, the US has, over the past two decades, used its overwhelming military might to wage a series of criminal wars in the Middle East, the Balkans and Central Asia aimed at undermining its major competitors. Faced with the rapid economic rise of China, the Obama administration is now recklessly confronting what it regards as a potential global rival to the US across the Asian region.
The basic fault lines of new conflicts are rapidly emerging, which, as long as capitalism remains, will plunge humanity into a new and catastrophic world war. Never before in history has the world economy been more closely intertwined, yet that very global integration has only exacerbated the conflicts and contradictions within the outmoded capitalist nation state system.
It is not accidental that these deep-going tensions take particularly explosive form in Australia. No other country in the world is so dependent on China as an export market for its commodities?iron ore, coal and minerals?and at the same time so reliant on the military strength of US imperialism to guarantee its own regional strategic interests. None of these issues can be discussed publicly, precisely because to do so would only compound the dilemma and alert the working class to the perils it faces.
Far from being an inconsequential personality clash, the Australian political crisis must act as a warning to workers and youth around the world about the dangers of the escalating drive to war and the need to unify the working class internationally in the common struggle to overthrow the capitalist system and establish workers? governments based on the program of socialist internationalism.

Sacha Baron Cohen Will Attend Oscars As 'The Dictator'

Action heroes like Rambo may not give in to threats, but Oscar producers caved to "The Dictator."
Of course, it's all in good fun. In an interview with "Extra," producer Brian Grazer confirmed Sacha Baron Cohen will arrive at the Academy Awards on Sunday as his character from his forthcoming political satire, contrary to earlier reports.
"We're thrilled to have him and he'll be on the red carpet dressed as his 'The Dictator,' " he told "Extra." Grazer, a producer on movies like "A Beautiful Mind" and "Apollo 13," is also producing this year's Oscars.
In "The Dictator," Baron Cohen adds the totalitarian leader of a fictitious country to his list of alter egos, which already included Ali G, Borat and Bruno, all of whom have headlined feature films since launching on "The Ali G Show." He played a supporting role in Best Picture nominee "Hugo" but was insistent about attending the awards show in character as Admiral General Shabazz Aladeen. Earlier on Friday (February 24), the English actor and comedian called in to the "Today" show (as Aladeen) to address his alleged ban from awards.
The "Today" interview came on the heels of a video message on the website for "The Republic of Wadiya," in which the dictator made a number of threats. "On behalf of the nation of Wadiya, I am outraged at being banned from the Oscars by the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Zionists," General Aladeen said in the video. "While I applaud the Academy for taking away my right to free speech, I warn you that if you do not lift your sanctions and give me my tickets back by 12 p.m. on Sunday, you will face unimaginable consequences."
Back in 2007, Oscar producers wouldn't allow the actor to appear in character as Borat. At press time, a spokesperson for the Academy told The Hollywood Reporter she had not heard about the plans for Cohen for Sunday.
"The Dictator" arrives in theaters May 11.

ReutersNearly six full days into the period for applying the franchise tag, no team has done it.? One league source suggested earlier this week that teams are holding off due to concerns that the players to be tagged haven?t been fully informed of the fact that this year?s franchise tenders will be considerably lower than last year?s numbers, given the new formula for calculating the amounts.
The theory is that the agents have yet to explain the situation to the players, hopeful that a long-term deal can be negotiated and/or that the team in question will decide not to use the tag on the player.? (In the case of Packers tight end Jermichael Finley, a two-year contract avoided a $4 million fight over whether he?s actually a tight end.)
But nine days remain before the tag window closes,? and Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that several specific players will have their ability to hit the open market limited by the tag.
They are:? Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes, Patriots receiver Wes Welker, Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe (pictured), Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson, 49ers safety Dashon Goldson, Cardinals defensive end Calais Cambpell, and Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
It?s widely believed that, if the Saints and Brees can work out a long-term deal, the Saints will use the franchise tag on guard Carl Nicks.
Schefter?s list of definites omits include several other prime candidates.? If the Ravens and running back Ray Rice don?t work out a long-term deal, Rice undoubtedly will be tagged.? Coach John Harbaugh essentially confirmed this at the Scouting Combine, saying that Rice will ?be making franchise-tag numbers, at least.?? Also, the Seahawks are expected to tag running back Marshawn Lynch, absent a long-term deal.? Ditto for the Bears and running back Matt Forte.
There are more.? It has been reported that the Redskins will tag tight end Fred Davis, notwithstanding his four-game suspension for smoking something that has more than four leaves.? Browns linebacker D?Qwell Jackson can expect the tag if he doesn?t do a new deal, and the Cowboys could decide to use the tag on linebacker Anthony Spencer.? There are conflicting reports on whether the Bills will use the tag on receiver Stevie Johnson.? The Lions are expected to tag defensive end Cliff Avril, if they can?t work out a new contract.
Kickers will get in on the action, too.? Matt Prater of the Broncos, Connor Barth of the Buccaneers, and Josh Scobee of the Jaguars are expected to be tagged absent new deals.
In Houston, tagging Mario Williams would result in a cap number that exceeds $21 million.? Thus, the Texas are more likely to use it, if at all, on running back Arian Foster, a restricted free agent who otherwise could be had for a single first-round pick.
Other possibilities remain.? Though it has been reported that the Packers aren?t likely to use the tag on quarterback Matt Flynn, the Packers can decide to pull a Matt Cassel with Aaron Rodgers? backup at any time before the deadline comes.? It also has been reported that the Chargers have told receiver Vincent Jackson that use of the tag is ?improbable.?
It?s not improbable that we?ll have plenty of additional stories regarding players who are or may be or won?t be or haven?t been tagged between now and March 5.

Stocks tick higher after labor market report

Stocks closed higher Thursday after a labor market report indicated the economy was slowly recovering, but the news wasn't enough for the S&P 500 to significantly extend recent gains.
The broad index is approaching levels not seen since before the 2008 financial crisis.
Equities have rallied more than 8 percent so far this year, and more than 20 percent from lows reached in October. But investors believe further gains are limited as the S&P flirted with the 1,360 level, its highest since last May.
The index has been unable to break convincingly above the level in the past several sessions. While a solid break above 1,360 could trigger more gains, the likelihood of a pullback increases with each failed attempt.
"Right now there's a question of what other bazookas the bulls have to keep driving gains, and there doesn't seem to be many," said Roger Volz, director of cash equities at BGC Financial in New York.
"In addition, there are big concerns about what impact rising crude prices could have on the consumer, as well as recession fears in Europe. That could take us lower."
In a sign the labor market was improving, new U.S. claims for unemployment insurance held at the lowest level since the early days of the 2007-2009 recession.
Data from another key sector of the economy also suggested improvement.
U.S. home prices rose 0.7 percent in December, the government said.
U.S. crude futures rose, extending recent gains that have taken them up 8.6 percent so far this month.
Hewlett-Packard Co slid and was the biggest drag on the Dow. Late Wednesday, the world's No. 1 computer maker posted a sharp decline in earnings and warned it would take several years to turn around its sprawling businesses.
Kohl's Corp slid after the department store chain issued a 2012 profit that missed estimates. Fellow retailer Target Corp gained after reporting a higher-than-expected profit.
Sears Holdings Corp jumped after announcing a plan to separate its Sears Hometown and Outlet Businesses and certain hardware stores.
According to Thomson Reuters data through Thursday morning, of the 446 companies in the S&P 500 that have reported earnings, 63 percent topped analysts' expectations.
Vivus Inc surged after the drugmaker's weight loss pill got a favorable review from a regulatory advisory panel.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Ahead of an Indiana Election Commission meeting, the Indiana attorney general says the legal questions have been answered about Sen. Dick Lugar?s residency.
Lugar has been singled out by primary contender Richard Mourdock for his home in Virginia. Mourdock has called into question Lugar?s residency status in Indiana, as Lugar continues to represent the state.
?I don't want to wade too far into the political questions because that ends up being what is raised, but the legal questions have been asked and answered, and anything else you hear that raises questions aren't really legal questions so much as political questions,? Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller said Thursday.
It?s not the first time Zoeller has been approached by Lugar for advice ? but in the past, it?s been verbal. Now, in advance of tomorrow?s Indiana Election Commission meeting, the Lugar camp has asked for a written opinion.
Zoeller said he?s looked over opinions from two previous attorneys general, and also done his own research, and he agrees with the past opinions. He also said Lugar has the right to follow the advice of the attorney general.
