Several other issues weigh down Slife, too, which is simply no competitor to the more effective RescueTime (free to $9 per month), an app with the same intentions, and much more follow through.

Set Up and Features
For Slife to record your computer use, you first need to download and install a small app (5.3MB). This software only collects the data; to see the reports, you have to create an online account at Slifeweb.com. It wasn't clear to me at first that the locally installed app didn't do anything that I could see, and I was confused when launching the "Preferences" from the app (by right clicking on the Slife icon in the Windows dock), which shows only your user name and encrypted password.

Nevertheless, if you install the app and set up a Web account, you can now see how you spend your computer time. Slife records all the different programs and files you use and how long you use them. See the slideshow for examples of the Web interface.

The app needs some time to collect data, so your reports won't reveal anything interesting about your productivity until Slife has been running for a few hours?in theory. But there's still more work that the user has to do for Slife to provide useful information.

Some time-tracking productivity apps automatically assign computer programs to a category. For example, Microsoft Excel is categorized as a business application, whereas TweetDeck falls into the social media category. A good time-tracking app gives you the ability to quickly and easily tell it which of these programs or categories are good or bad for your productivity. RescueTime, for example, lets you mark your three most productive categories, and depending on your job, social media may be one of them. The problem with Slife is you have to set up the entire structure yourself.

Rather than categories, Slife uses "activities," which you can then assign to different programs, so that "business communication" might be the activity assigned to Outlook. You can add a goal for how much time you want to spend doing your activities as well.

In RescueTime, this process takes one step and is largely automated. In Slife, it's a two-step process that's completely manual.

More Limitations
Another major limitation with Slife is that it counts all activity performed in one browser as one chunk of data. In other words, it doesn't parse the time you spent on the Internet by website, so if you spend two hours researching and only 15 minutes messing around on Facebook, Slife reports 2 hours 15 minutes in whatever browser you were using. Considering how many Web apps and sites I use for my daily work?and I would presume the same of other so-called knowledge workers and students?detailed Internet information is key to understanding my productivity. If you need detailed Internet surfing reports, RescueTime does have this feature, thankfully.

When it came to looking at how I spent my time on documents, Slife got a lot of information just wrong. It showed me a Google Chrome browser icon next to "Untitled - Notepad" and "Document1 - Microsoft Word" (that is to say, documents clearly not created in Chrome). I noticed a lot of glitches and imperfect data in this section of the site.

In the main dashboard, a pie chart shows the breakdown of all activity, but only if you assign data to the activities that you may or may not have set up. Again, there's just too much manual work that's needed for Slife to be a productive productivity app.

Worst of all, the Slife Web app logged me out over and over again. While I tested the Web app over several days, I left a tab open in my browser so I could periodically check it. Every time I returned to the app and refreshed the information, Slife logged me out, easily the most frustrating thing about it.

Pete Rock and CL Smooth's "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" is an iconic, classic and unforgettable track that hip-hop fans across the world hold near and dear. But as special as the 1992 track is to the listener, it means even more to the creator, who originally made the track in dedication to his fallen friend Troy "Trouble T Roy" Dixon. So when producer Pete Rock first heard Lupe Fiasco's remake, "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)," on the radio last week, he was quite upset.

"At that point, my emotions were working — I'm still thinking about Heavy D and Troy is a dear friend to me, and my emotions got the best of me, and I expressed myself on Twitter," Pete Rock told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway on Tuesday, a week after Lupe released his single.

Dixon, a former member of the hip-hop group Heavy D & the Boyz, passed away in 1990 after an accidental fall while he was out on tour. Two years later, Pete Rock and his partner CL Smooth released "T.R.O.Y." to pay homage. The song took on even greater meaning for Rock after Heavy D, his cousin, passed away in November 2011.

The Soul Brother said he was approached by Lupe's label and management to use his classic beat for their new track. Rock agreed, under the one condition: that he was involved in the recording process. "I thought from that point I would be involved with Lupe and being in the studio, tweaking the beat, but I never heard from the record label, and then I turn on the radio, and hear it on the radio," Rock explained.

Instead of involving Pete Rock, Lupe and his team re-created the beat from the original 1967 Tom Scott sample from which "T.R.O.Y." was crafted.

"No disrespect to lupe fiasco and i like him alot but TROY should be left alone. Feel so violated, the beat is next to my heart and was made Outta anguish and pain. When it's like that it should not be touched by no one," Rock tweeted after hearing the track. "I'm not flattered @ all. Dat sh-- is wack, and the producer should be ashamed of his f---in self. Smh."

The two soon got on the phone, and their respective differences were thought to be solved. "I just got off da phone with lupe, we worked out our difference and we bout to get it in," Pete tweeted May 23. "Gonna be epic and we gonna give Troy and hev the proper respect they deserve and make history."

The very next day, an irate Lupe phoned into the "Sway in the Morning" radio show and blasted Pete Rock for what he said was a premature tweet. "He wasn't supposed to say that," Lupe said in response to Pete's tweet about plans to collaborate, which has now been deleted from his account. "He was supposed to say the same sh-- he said on the phone: 'Yo, man, it was my bad, that was wack, it was f---ed up for me to say that, it was disrespectful, I was 100 percent in the wrong, I apologize.' That's what he was supposed to say."

The two artists clearly have different views, but Pete contends that his aim was to make peace. "When he called, he was upset, and I just tried to talk him through that and say, 'Look, man, at the end of the day, let's just fix this thing,' " Rock explained to MTV News. "My whole goal was to just squash this thing, fix the music and just move on."

Pete said he's still a Fiasco fan — naming "Paris, Tokyo" and "Kick, Push" as two of his favorite songs — but he also stands by his original condition: If anyone is to remake "T.R.O.Y.," he wants to be involved. "If you're using my track, I want to give you that same impact that I had when I put that record out," he said.

"They Reminisce Over You" has already been redone several times — on mixtapes as well as commercially released albums. Rock said he can't control the unauthorized mixtape versions, but he would like to be a part of all official remakes, as he was on Mary J. Blige's 1993 What's the 411? Remix album. "The Mary J. Blige remix was dope because she involved us and she put CL Smooth on her remix," he said.

Previously, authorities in Israel told the White House that they would refrain from striking Iran until after Election Day as to avoid marring the race by possibly involving the US in an international war. Because President Obama has not put his foot down on Iran?s alleged nuclear warhead procurement plan, Israeli officials are not reportedly willing to attack at any moment.

?There is no need to tell us what to do, and we have no reason to panic. Israel is very, very strong, but we do know that the Iranians are accomplished chess players and will try to achieve nuclear capabilities,? reads a translated statement from Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak delivered this week in Hebrew. ?Our position has not changed. The world must stop Iran from becoming nuclear. All options remain on the table.?

Minister Barak offered his statement on May 23, less than a week after attending a meeting in Washington. On May 17, Barak spoke with US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta at the Pentagon outside of Washington to discuss the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, at which point Debka reports he was told that Obama had rejected the Jewish state?s plea. Debka adds that, after the meeting with his US counterpart, Defense Minister Barak spoke with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and National Security Adviser Tom Donilon over the ongoing Iran issue but was unable to have either member of the Obama administration aid in Israel?s plea to sanction Iran.

Previously, President Obama has gone on the record to say that he stands by America?s alliance with Israel and told The Atlantic earlier this year, ?I think that the Israeli government recognizes that, as president of the United States, I don?t bluff.?

A former nanny for Sharon?Stone sued the actress Wednesday claiming the Oscar-winner repeatedly insulted her Filipino heritage and fired her after discovering she had been paid overtime.

Erlinda T. Elemen's harassment lawsuit claims Ms. Stone insulted her accent, her religion, and other aspects of her culture in the final months of her employment. Ms. Elemen worked for Stone for more than four years and was promoted to head nanny, a live-in position, but was fired after the actress discovered the overtime payments, the lawsuit claims.

The suit also claims Stone, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in "Casino," forbade Elemen from reading the Bible in the actress' home.

Stone's accountants issued the payments because the nanny worked on vacations and holidays, but the actress did not approve, the lawsuit states.

Stone's publicist Paul Bloch called Elemen a disgruntled former employee who first sought disability and worker's compensation payments after she was fired roughly 15 months ago.

"Now, she is obviously looking for another opportunity to cash in," Mr. Bloch wrote in a statement. "This is a frivolous lawsuit for absurd claims that are made-up and fabricated. Sharon?Stone will be completely vindicated in court."

Elemen's spokesman, Eric Rose, said in response to Bloch's remarks, "We can't wait to see Ms. Stone in court."

The former nanny is seeking unspecified damages on harassment, wrongful termination and retaliation claims.

CANCER BATS' fourth full-length album, "Dead Set On Living", was released in the U.S. on April 24 via Metal Blade Records. Once again utilizing the legendary Vespa Studios and producers Eric Ratz and Kenny Luong, the CD brings yet another dimension to the BATS' menacing style of thrash-tinged hardcore rock. Tracks like "R.A.T.S." (featuring guest vocals from Rob Urbinati of SACRIFICE) and "The Void" are laced with the gritty, sludgy groove that first emerged on cuts from 2008's "Hail Destroyer", while the blistering first single "Old Blood" roars with the riot-inducing speed and aggression so familiar to the band's fans. The blazing "Bastards!" also features vocal boosts from DEVILDRIVER's Dez Fafara and AN HORSE's Kate Cooper.

Thematically, the album offers a strong focus on the bilateral relationship of dark and light, destruction and construction, life and death. The title track, for example, refers to a close friend of the band who ended up in the hospital in serious condition; only to have the experience cement his will to survive. "Road Sick", as the title may imply, finds Cormier struggling with the hardships that come with a career spent on the road.

Still, whereas 2010's "Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones" had a much darker tinge, "Dead Set On Living" strikes a tighter balance between the opposing forces and brings listeners closer to the light at the end of the tunnel by encouraging them to push through peril. "We all reach these dark places where we feel angry or alone," said the singer, "but that gives us a reason to pick ourselves up and strive to make something better."

Since first turning heads with 2006's "Birthing The Giant", CANCER BATS, made up of Liam Cormier (vocals), Scott Middleton (guitar), Mike Peters (drums) and Jaye Schwarzer (bass), is one of the hardest-working bands in the music industry. The band spent close to 300 days away from home in 2011, and will likely come close to that in 2012.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) ? Jason Dufner lists Ben Hogan as his hero.

At Hogan?s Alley, Dufner had the lead halfway through the Colonial with a chance for a Texas two-step that only Hogan has accomplished.

Dufner had a bogey-free 6-under 64 on another windy day Friday to reach 11-under 129. A week after winning the Byron Nelson Championship, Dufner had a two-stroke lead over Zach Johnson ? the 2010 winner who shot a 67.

The only player to win both PGA Tour events in the Dallas-Fort Worth market in the same year was Hogan in 1946.

?That would be great company to join, obviously,? Dufner said. ?To have anything compared to him or be talked in the same sentence with him is something that would be pretty unique and special to me.?

With the way Dufner is playing these days, his game certainly is in a different class.

Both of Dufner?s PGA Tour victories came in his previous three starts. He has led or shared the lead after 11 of his last 34 rounds.

?When I step to the first tee, I feel like I?m going to play a good round of golf. That?s a nice way to play. It?s a comfortable way to play,? Dufner said. ?I?m just trying to be confident and think about the things I?ve been doing for almost a year now, and realize that those are the things that are making me successful out here, and not get too caught up in everything else that?s going on around me.?

Johnson, who had an opening bogey-free 64, started the second round eagle-birdie-bogey. Then there was a four-hole stretch on the back nine when he alternated birdies and bogeys twice.

During the third round Saturday, Johnson will be paired with his buddy Dufner.

?He?s got a good rhythm about him, about his game right now,? Johnson said. ?But it?s irrelevant who I play with. I?m not playing against him. I?m playing against the golf course and the conditions and the elements that are presented. So that?s my focus.?

Two years ago, Johnson set the Colonial tournament scoring record at 21-under 259 en route to the last of his seven PGA Tour victories.

Van Pelt (64) and Tommy Gainey (67) were tied for third at 133, a stroke better than Tom Gillis (69).

Defending Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial champion David Toms shot a 71 and missed the cut at 5-over 145.

With the wind again blowing steady about 20 mph with higher gusts, Dufner stood in the middle of the fairway at No. 5, his 14th hole of the day. Dufner stepped back twice before changing clubs, then hit the approach to about 18 feet for his sixth and last birdie.

That is the end of Colonial?s ?horrible horseshoe? ? as Nos. 3-5 are known because of their layout and with the longest par 4s sandwiching a 243-yard par 3.

Dufner has played those holes 4 under through two rounds, and wasn?t even aware of the trio?s reputation.

?I got off to a great start. ? I had a chance to catch Dufner, is he not hot right now,? said Gainey, who opened his round with three consecutive birdies before bogeys at Nos. 7 and 8. ?I got hot and then let a couple get away.?

After Colonial, Dufner ? who got married between his two victories ? plans to take a short break before beginning preparations for the next major. The U.S. Open is in three weeks at The Olympic Club in San Francisco.

The 35-year-old Dufner, who has moved up to 14th in the world, had consecutive weekend rounds of 75 at the Masters and tied for 24th after starting 69-70.

It was during the final round of the PGA Championship last August when Dufner had consecutive bogeys on holes No. 15-17. That cost him the lead and forced him into a three-hole playoff that he lost to Keegan Bradley.

?I think it helped me out a lot this year. It kind reaffirmed the things that I was doing was right, and I was on the right direction and right path,? he said. ?I didn?t think too much about losing. I just thought about all of the good things that happened. ? I think at the PGA kind of showed me that I could really play at a high level.?

Divots: Sergio Garcia, the `01 Colonial champ, followed his opening 66 with a 73. That included an 8 on the 387-yard ninth hole when he hit his approach into the water fronting the green, and then knocked his drop in there as well. ? Ben Crane (141), who lives just north of Fort Worth, finished his second-round 71 with an eagle at the ninth hole. He holed a wedge shot from 104 yards. ? Harrison Frazar missed the cut with rounds of 72 and 74. He still had a highlight Friday, a hole-in-one with an 8-iron at the 183-yard 16th. ? BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) ? Hale Irwin shot his age with a 5-under 66, finishing the second round of the Senior PGA Championship two shots behind leaders Roger Chapman and John Cook.

Cook also had a 66 to match Chapman at 7 under after a more forgiving day at Harbor Shores. Chapman had a 67. Michael Allen broke the course record with a 64, recovering nicely from a first-round 77.

Starting on the back nine, Irwin birdied four of his first six holes. He has won the major championship four times, though not since 2004. He was the 54-hole leader last year at Valhalla but finished fourth.

Chapman led by a stroke after the first round and didn?t make a bogey Friday until the par-5 ninth, his final hole. Irwin also bogeyed No. 9.

BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

VIRGINIA WATER, England (AP) ? England?s James Morrison shot an 8-under 64 to take a four-stroke lead in the BMW PGA Championship, while Rory McIlroy had a 79 to miss the cut and leave himself in danger of losing the top spot in the world ranking to No. 2 Luke Donald.

Morrison had a 12-under 132 total on Wentworth?s West Course in the European Tour?s flagship event. Donald, the defending champion, was tied for second with David Drysdale. Donald had a 68, and Drysdale shot 70. Donald must finish solo eighth or better to reclaim the No. 1 position.

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) ? Alabama won the NCAA Division I Women?s Golf Championship for the first time, holding off Southern California by a stroke on the 72nd hole.
